Varifocals have the long distance prescription at the top section, set at the pupil centre. Thereafter as you look downwards through the lens the middle part allows you to view at an arms length distance and the lower most part of the lens has your near vision prescription.

The designs of the very best lenses use the latest techniques in manufacture and this entails the dispensing optician to take extra measurements to make the process more exact.
WHAT DO I GET WITH THE BETTER VARIFOCALS?
We will keep this explanation as simple as possible, without delving too much into the exact methods of manufacture. A varifocal lens carries a distance prescription blending downwards into your near vision prescription. There is a softer focus area towards the peripheral parts of the lens which means that you have to look face on to have the best viewing. This means that your head movement is increased as you look around. WHAT IF I DON’T GET ON WITH VARIFOCALS?
Firstly we would definitely recommend you try the lenses for 3-4 weeks to adapt to the new lens. If within 90 days of collection you just cant get on with them we will happily ask you to return so we can discuss which elements you may be having trouble with. After this discussion we will happily exchange the specs for an alternative, which would be separate specs for distance, reading and/or computer or even bifocals. We will agree the best solution moving forward and refund/charge any cost difference. Our Varifocal return rate is currently 1 in 25, rest assured you are in good hands.
