What's so good about Maui Jim Sunglasses?

Here at David Spicer Opticians in Oxford, we have stocked Maui Jim for quite some time now and in our opinion Maui Jim produce some of the best polarised lenses available. Incidentally polarised is all they deal with, so you know whatever you get, will have the ultimate in glare reduction.

The frames vary from traditional heavier looking to rimless and minimalistic. There is definitely a model to suit whether you need them for skiing, golf, driving, tennis, sailing or just simply an easy to wear everyday pair of cool looking shades.

We will tackle the question of “Which Maui Jim lens is best for me?” in future posts, but for now I will give a brief run down on what’s so good about the lenses and you’ll know why we stock them here at David Spicer Optometrists.

Maui Jim lenses use a patented PolarizedPlus2 technology which eliminate 99% of glare and block 100% of harmful UV while boosting colour levels to enhance your viewing experience.

PolarizedPlus2 lenses incorporate:

  • Colour enhancing lenses: Instead of dimming light they enhance colour and clarity.

  • Polarising film which eliminates reflected glare from any flat, smooth or shiny surface.

  • Waterproof and oloephobic coating to shed water, snow and also repel grease and smudges.

  • Anti-reflective treatment

  • CLEARSHELL lens hard coating on both surfaces.

We would have to advise you on the frames and make any adjustments necessary to ensure that the we have optimised the fitting, as the last thing you want and something customers who have purchased without the right advice complain about is spending money on an ill fitting/ ill advised product is that it either slips down or sits too low and lets the light in, which leaves them constantly pushing the frames back up or squinting when they are in the Sun.

Most of our customers who opt for Maui Jim, want something that’s subtle, doesn’t stand out too much, but is effective and fits well. In terms of the prescription element, we would have to advise if your spectacle prescription is suitable.
