Astigmatism

The eye is usually a more spherical shape but with astigmatism, it appears to be shaped more like a rugby ball. As a result, light is focussed in more than one place in the eye and if left uncorrected this can cause headaches, blurred vision and general eye strain. Astigmatism can affect short and long-sighted people and can be corrected with spectacles and/or contact lenses.
