David and Sally Spicer
David Spicer comes from a family of optometrists. His father had three practices in East Sussex where David was brought up. His brother Richard is also an optometrist, in Kent. Sally had no optometry in the family, but her brother Michael has in recent years also qualified and practices in Oxfordshire.
David and Sally met at University in London while studying Optometry, and completed their pre-registration training in Oxford. David qualified in 1982, Sally a year later.
After qualifying David and Sally spent few years working in the Oxford area for other practices. In 1989, David had the opportunity to buy the practice he had been working in. We decided that this was our chance to practice the way we wanted to, putting eyecare at the heart of the practice, and offering high quality products at affordable prices.
We attract most of our new patients by recommendation, and are pleased to find many long-standing followers returning time after time for many years.
David spent several years gaining valuable experience in fitting complex Contact Lenses by attending regular sessions at the Oxford Eye Hospital. He fits many types of contact lenses, from strightforward fitting of Daily Disposables, to more complex toric and multifocal fittings.
Sally has a particular interest in Children's eyecare, including offering Coloured Overlays Assessments, particularly for children with dyslexia.
